Strategy for 2010

I have commented before about how many people have been demanding policy and strategy statements for guidance and some sort of assurance that sticking their necks out will not be for naught. Upon reflection and analysis of where we’ve come and where we are going, I think it is time to venture a proposal or at least share what I believe should serve as a strategy statement.
Some wise folks have posted a quote from Mohandas K Gandhi in their comments on this blog. It goes: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I did not think much of it until I began to read more about Gandhi and had some long, deep discussions with several Independents, including Ivan Obolensky. Ivan is a well-read student of history. He was also until very recently unaware of what was going on with the Independence movement. As is his habit, when he learned of it he rapidly absorbed all that has been written of it. From a relatively exterior point of view he related to me what he has observed of the movement against his wealth of knowledge of world history. He noted that whether by design or not, we seemed to be following a clear, clean and natural direction along Gandhi’s morally transcending, winning line of advice.

In light of most our first impulses to bring down the tyrany by direct confrontation, what makes Gandhi’s approach so workable?
LRH commented in a lecture (What Scientology is Doing 6 June 1955) about the inevitable result of overthrows: “If you want to know what kind of government you’d get after you revolted against a government, look at the government you revolted against. Things will be a little bit bullet-nicked, but that will be about the only difference. We could, at this time, put together an organization or a group in Scientology sufficiently strong, sufficiently powerful to run over everything it came to. This would be a fascinating thing to do. Be a game in itself. And then someday — me gone, other guys gone — all of a sudden there sits this thing, this organization. And somebody has to rise up and say, ‘Auditors of the world, unite: Overthrow this monster!’ And everybody would see it go down very plainly, you see. Down it’d go. Then they’d say, ‘Fine! Now we are free.’ And they would get another handful of letters cancelling their certificates.”
So, how does one liberate people from oppressive, evil rule? Gandhi urged Indians to engage in a peaceful revolution, not to overthrow British rule, but instead to cut loose the collective shackles it had bound the Indian populace with. Despite every temptation to do so, he advised the people not to engage in direct conflict with their rulers, but instead to be and act free of that rule as if it did not exist. Understanding that a slave is only one because he agrees to be one in the first place, Gandhi sought to liberate India by raising its people out of their slave mentality. By being and acting free – and eschewing all temptations to engage force vs force – India ultimately transformed itself from an externally governed colony to a sovereign nation.
Historically, the most productive ‘revolutions’ have been ones based on integration,  inclusion and love rather than segregation, exclusion and hate. The Civil Rights movement in America is a good example. Its acknowledged primary mover, Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, happened to be a dedicated student (and self proclaimed disciple) of Gandhi. He pointed out that nonviolent resistance is not only the brave road to travel it is the most effective way to proceed:
“It must be emphasized that nonviolent resistance is not a method for cowards; it does resist. If one uses this method because he is afraid or merely because he lacks the instruments of violence, he is not truly non-violent. This is why Gandhi often said that if cowardice is the only alternative to violence, it is better to fight. He made this statement conscious of the fact that there is always another alternative: no individual or group need submit to any wrong, nor need they use violence to right that wrong; there is the way of nonviolent resistance. This is ultimately the way of the strong man. It is not a method of stagnant passivity. The phrase ‘passive-resistance’ often gives the false impression that this is a sort of ‘do-nothing method’ in which the resister quietly and passively accepts evil. But nothing could be further from the truth. For while the non-violent resister is passive in the sense that he is not physically aggressive toward his opponent, his mind and emotions are always active, constantly seeking to persuade his opponent that he is wrong. The method is passive physically but strongly active spiritually. It is not passive non-resistance to evil, it is active nonviolent resistance to evil.”
Perhaps you are thinking by now along the lines of, “all good and fine, and inspiring and all, but we aren’t contending with colonial India nor with the Jim Crow South.” True. So, let’s relate this history to some fundamental Scientology – something we all agree is eternally applicable. Some of us have had to check the seemingly natural inclination to charge over the ramparts to reclaim what is rightfully ours. I think most of us came to understand that that attitude is precisely what is wrong with Mestology. It has reversed the order of the Conditions of Existence. It is on a mission to have wonderful cathedrals worldwide, along with predictable, compliant members, all to make Scientology fit in and be acceptable to satisfy some weird kind of PTSness to the middle (or more likely upper) class. Among other problems, enroute to that goal its people have sacrificed being Scientologists by doing acts that are anathema to Scientologists. The felony has been compounded by the church’s obsession with dictating behavior to the point of denying, rather than granting, beingness to its own people.
Let’s turn to LRH to get the sequence straight:
“The game of life demands that one assume a beingness in order to accomplish a doingness in the direction of havingness. These three conditions are given in an order of seniority where life is concerned. The ability to be is more important than the ability to do. The ability to do is more important than the ability to have. In most people all three conditions are sufficiently confused that they are best understood in reverse order. When one has clarified the idea of possession or havingness, one can then proceed to clarify doingness for general activity, and when this is done one understands beingness or identity.
“It is an essential to a successful existence that each of these three conditions be clarified and understood. The ability to assume or to grant beingness is probably the highest of human virtues. It is even more important to be able to permit other people have beingness than to be able oneself to assume it.”

In retrospect, I believe during 2009 we have made a huge step on the subject of “be.” Imagine where we will be in a year if we consolidate those gains toward enhancing the Conditions of Existence. I believe our strategy for 2010 can be simply stated by drawing from Gandhi, King and Hubbard:

BE, DO, AND HAVE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

Some might ask, but what of DM and his incessant efforts to drag us into his sick GPM?  To that I say, the only power he has over you is that which you grant him. The only power an SP has is that of enturbulation. Organized crime only succeeds where it successfully intils fear in prospective victims.  Where it cannot or does not, it is nothing.  Finally, contemplate these words of Gandhi:  “When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fail. Think of it, always.”

Peace to everybody throughout 2010 and beyond.

  1. Sounds like great advice! My goal for 2010 is to get a refund from the church, and go up the Bridge in a free environment. And to get trained, and work with Independents to deliver Scientology outside the oppressiveness of the Church.

  2. Utterly and truly pan-determined. How could that NOT succeed?

Thank you for a very inspiring and beautifully composed
    meditation for the new year.

Beautiful Marty. I would like to add something if I may…from “What is Greatness”:

“The real lesson is to learn to love. He who would walk scatheless through his days must learn this. Never use what is done to one as a basis for hatred. Never desire revenge. It requires real strength to love man. And to love him despite all invitations to do otherwise, all provocations and all reasons why one should not. Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate. To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength. To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness. And may very well be the greatest secret in this universe.”

    L. Ron Hubbard

    • Kathy, Great addition. Thank you.

    • Our family has had a really tough time the last 2 years from an organised group of people who we believe are scientologists or a related group. In the process we have discovered how powerful responding to aggro with unconditional love is. I am a Christian and have been horrified by some of the stuff I have learned (much of it first- and second-hand) about fair game behaviour, but that quote from Hubbard was incredibly moving and beautiful to me. If scientologists can hold the yardstick of unconditional love up to all the teachings and practices of their faith and quietly allow to die anything that is not wholly and completely loving and forgiving of ALL humans then you will have created something very special.

  4. Eloquently put and irrefutable. Just in time for New Year’s postulates.

    Thank you Marty.

  5. Theo Sismanides

Marty, an inspiring essay on who we are and where we are going.

BE, DO AND HAVE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

A great start for a great year for all of us!

  6. A very appropriate and beautiful post for 2010! Thank you Marty.

Independents are De-PTSed,therfore we are absolutely going to flourish and prosper on all our dynamics in 2010.

A very Happy, healthy and loving 2010 to you all! 🙂

  7. Truth and Reason

Thank you so very much for this! I am so glad to be part of a group that is heading in the right direction.

    These are exciting times indeed.

  8. For 2010: Peace (Be), love (do), happiness (have)!

  9. Nicely done Marty. Looks like the timing of Ivan arriving on the scene offered some timely input and perspective for you. I also enjoy the additions you make of other great social and spiritual thinkers who’s footprints were left in the sands of time, to be revisited for inspiration and help in times like this.

I would enjoy hearing further what Ivan added to your world as it relates to this new direction of independents, should you care to share.

    • Mickey, Hi. Ivan’s got some great ideas for the future. I am sure we’ll all be hearing about them soon in the new year.

  10. Fantastic post! If I might add, one of my favorite quote is from Handbook for Preclears:
“Actually you are a giant tied down with cotton lint. You tied the knots and furnished the string and said where you’d lie.” LRH.
To me this is the ultimate way a being ceases to be, therefore becomes unable to do & forces himself into not being able to have. May we all cut these cotton lint strings that often appear to be thick chains & become the benevolent giants we all really are. Cheers to all of us Flourishing & Prospering in 2010 & beyond.

  11. Be the change you want to see in the world.

This year starting in a few hours would give us the world that we work towards.

I hope that the hundreds of friends in the shadows decide soon to join the thin red line…

Help us to have the change we want in the world…

    Please?

  12. Sounds like a simple and beautiful plan. I wish all of you success in 2010.

A thought: I may be naïve, but I can’t imagine that law enforcement authorities, especially in the US, would fail to vindicate one of your most basic rights — your right as a law-abiding citizen to simply be LEFT ALONE — regardless of past hassles you’ve faced from the government. DM and his faux-“security apparatus” have no right to harass, bully, or defame any of you. They have no right to force you to be “rehabilitated”, “route out” or pay trumped-up “freeloader debts”. As long as you’re on the side of the law, the law should be on your side, and could be an important ally.

  13. Beautifully written.

    Alex

  14. Marty, this is one of your finest posts.

You set an excellent example of someone transcending former conditions of existence.

In the short time I have been following you, your ability to grant beingness continues to increase. We all need that ability if we are to achieve a satisfactory resolution of the current CofS debacle.

As you point out, we will not resolve this with force. If we create a righteous Juggernaut to impose order on the church, it will be only a matter of time until it attempts to enslave and degrade us like the current insanity we call Mestology.

Once we understand what we want to be, we need to align ourselves with others on the same wavelength and do the exact actions including granting beingness to bring others into harmonious doingness and mutually beneficial havingness.

Life is not a zero-sum game when we use the tech with complete ARC.

  15. Hi Marty, and Happy 2010 to you and yours too. Your blog has been a spot of sanity for me lately, and I appreciate it greatly. I feel
that with you and others who have taken bold steps, we are on the road to something better. This means a lot to me. With enough auditing and training, Scn becomes a way of life, a mindset that cannot be thwarted by the slings and arrows of 3rd Dynamic goofiness. Not very elegantly put, but you get my drift… 😉

    • I don’t know, I think “3rd dynamic goofiness” pretty much describes it. I’ve always found that those who are SOOO serious about their suppression have the hardest time being teased about it. It also really helps to keep one from going PTS to it if you can make fun of it! Mind you, I’m not making fun of the person but of their behavior…Maybe not a tactic LRH recommends but it works for me. The “Man behind the Curtain” bits from the Wizard of OZ on this site are examples of what I’m talking about.
      Happy New Year!

      • Egg-zackly!

      • Gaia, I agree with you and point out that “making fun” is really different from ridicule.

Why do we laugh or linecharge when you have a cognition (realization) in session? It’s not joking and degrading. The laughter is from the relief of recognized truth.

Same in life. And that’s one of the ways that great art and comedy serve the culture, by holding up a mirror to foibles.

That joy and fun is the opposite end of the scale of a “Joker and degrader” who has less depth than a coat of nailpolish.

That policy “Jokers and Degraders” has been abused as much as SP Declares IMHO.

Are dolphins jokers and degraders? No, they’re mischievous, joyful and sometimes pranksters. Very devoted to one another, the pod, and saving humans at sea.

The joke cracking car salesman, OTOH (on the other hand), who is full of jokes, ridicule, put downs, intent on “building ARC” just to rip you off for a lemon car and can’t be profoundly concerned or respectful of anything…that ::shudder:: is a degrader.

      • Yikes, I mixed pronouns in my comment above. :O Of course I meant to say “Why do we laugh or linecharge when we have a cognition (realization) in session?”

      • veritas, when a mischievious dolphin goes too far and crosses the line into maliciousness…that dolphin then becomes known as an Evil Porpoise. 🙂

      • P Henry,
Thank you for the giggle this morning! I’m pretty sure DM the Evil Porpoise won’t get it…tee hee…Just circle him in red!
        Gaia

      • Gaia, funny that you say, “just circle them in red!”

Because, there’s a back story. In 90′ my wife (long since ex-wife) and I had a number of T-shirts and sweatshirts produced and silkscreened with various images that would appeal to a scientologist. One image was an illustration of a very evil looking dolphin and, it was circled in red! Under the image it read: Evil Porpoise. LOL

We sold a lot of these shirts to scn in Portland and the One Stoppe Shoppe in Clearwater ordered some of all the images. When I moved to Clearwater in 93′ and was working on a renos’s project at the Coachman, I would often wear my Evil Porpoise T-shirt and saw others do the same. That was cool!

From the time had the shirts made, I was always sort of expecting to have the hammer fall for joking and degrading. But, it never happened. As far as I know, no KRs were ever written.

Note: we wanted to use a number of LRH quotes too, but try as we may, we could never get Issue Authority approval.

Those images are all in storage now. At some point in the near future I’ll dig them out and post them for everyone to see.

      • P. Henry,
I bet there would be a HUGE market for a T shirt with DM’s face on an Evil Porpoise circled in red! At least in the land of Independednts!
        Gaia

  16. Fits like a mink glove Marty. Ivan is a good leader, always was. So are you Marty. I think the quickening is occuring on the outside of the church. I cannot wait to see what 2010 brings.

    Vigil

  17. Create the future you envision.

    Flourish and prosper.

In other words don’t buy into the past.

    The future is yours.

I loved scientology, the church, Ron, but it is what we learned that will guide us, not what we did in the past, or who we were beholden to. We can just go forward and create our vision.

    Happy New Year!

  18. Great post and pictures! Happy New Year to all!

  19. Hi Marty,
I have noticed for a long time that DM no longer gives the references when he quotes LRH and I would really like it if you would not forget to give the reference when you quote LRH. That way I can look it up if I need to.

Other than that, I have been thinking a lot about this subject and it was nice to see your discussion on it. I do not wish to “snap terminals” by engaging in a fight with anyone about Scientology, but I definitely also will no longer allow myself to be forced to think or behave any certain way because of someone’s arbitrary. Good article!

  20. I agree with this (of course) and if no one minds, in honor of this momentous date, I’ll add this: Advancing our cause is simply a matter of putting in order. Everyone can participate by stating their observations, getting others to read our blogs and websites, helping to get the message out on media lines, blowing the whistle on criminality within the CoS, and other such actions as have been worked out in the last few months. And of course, as one puts in order, confusion will blow off. LRH says don’t try to stop the confusion, just keep putting in order. Such actions don’t just advance our cause, they are CAUSE. Congratulations to everyone for helping to create real change in 2009. 2010 is shaping up to be one hell of a year.

  21. Thanks Marty, that essay was inspiring.

It’s now 2010 here in LA County as I can hear the sound of small arms fire announcing the fact 🙂

    Ivan if you’re reading this.

You were the best CO AOLA ever had and I’d like to personally welcome you to the Independence movement.

Again Marty thank you for everything you have done and every thing you plan to do in the future.

Also I’d like to wish everyone a Happy, Prosperous and Flourishing New Year.

Finally I’d just like to thank Ron for the tech. Without him we would have never had this game called Scientology.

  22. I read your beautiful article, and then was compelled to go find my Hymn of Asia and look at it again, as I hadn’t done in many years.

It was good “therapy”. It lightened and calmed my own personal universe. It reminded me of some very very good memories of being a Scientologist, and rekindled some more purpose, self-respect, and pride in me.

Thank you, with the vehicle of your theta comm, for this gift.

I will be doing my part, in my own best way, to contribute to the Aims of Scientology in 2010… and beyond.

Happy New Year to you, and to all of the wonderful beings who gather here.

    ARC
    Jen

  23. Marty,

It is time for me to pose what I believe to be a very important point that I think has been greatly overlooked: If LRH TRULY made it upto and beyond OT 15 dont you think that he would have squashed DM from the start and certainly by now??? It’s been 24 years. There is alot of workable tech but how far does the bridge REALLY go??? Please respond back on this one as I’d love to get your sincere viewpoint on this one. Happy new year to you.

  24. I love it Marthy!! thank you!

  25. “BE, DO, AND HAVE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.”

Amen! I note the photo of Ghandi on the wall behind Martin Luther King. Great beings are one another’s best friends. Truth is universa. I will forever love L. Ron Hubbard for giving us a “no detour” applicable philosophy. I will forever love Ghandi for living his poetry. I will forever love Martin Luther King for standing for truth that is larger than any one human life, yet that doesn’t diminish even the smallest human life. I love Marty, Mosey, Jim, Old Auditor, everyone here who is even just curious, whose names I’m not recalling…for living out loud.

Happy 2010. The universe is ours…all of it. Not just world headlines, but this galaxy, and the one next door, and the billions of them out there.

Life is HUGE and immense. And we are Life.

Happy New Year! You amazing, awake super stars!! Thank you for lighting up the world.

  26. This is a beautiful model for us to adopt. And so much more effective than “force” and hatred and venom returned. The greatest lesson I have learned from Scientology is the granting of beingness. This model allows us to do that without falling victim to the bad behavior or going PTS to it.

Brilliant, Marty and Ivan! Thank you again and again…Gaia

BE, DO, AND HAVE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD

  27. It’s pantomime season in the UK (HE’S BEHIND YOU!!!), and last night while watching a pantomime villain in Cinderella DM flashed across my mind. In the same production a version of M People’s “search” was performed. It was quite a seminal moment. To get home and read this post – it all fits like a glove. Happy New Year Marty – I would love everyone to invest 3 minutes sharing this with me… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhTi4tQIY4A

  28. Thank you to you all !
You are free beings and so inspiring. Every new day is full of Joy and new Ideas and more hope.
I’m still working on my doubt condition and all your post are helping to light the darkness on my dynamics.
It’s so amazing we were so blinded by D(evil)M(an).
We had a every warm and uptone Christmas in our family, so beautiful.
New years even we were together with the newest products of flag (3 Ot 7 and one Ot 8). It was a comedy like in a woody allen Movie. No real joy just enforced uptoness (1.1.). The guy that is newly back on OT7 looks 20 years older, has body problems and can’t communicate properly anymore. He was such a rebel 6-7 months ago, nattering about high prices etc..He lost his integrity at flag and is a shadow of himself and no more any critical communication, just no real communication anymore.
    Intermezzo:
My daugther called me and reported about her new year party, there were 2 staff members of a class4 Org present, she meant it was so difficult to get them uptone..at the end she gave up as they look like living in another world.
For us it was hard to confront those Ots the way they are but we just confronted it. They are as they are and we don’t to justify their beingness.
If this blog wouldn’t be I would be in a thinkingness and doubt about myself and in a confusion that propably the Ots are so uptone and I cant see it because I’m so…If you guys wouldn’t exist I would be in a total confusion thinking of that my observations are totally wrong and the Ots so wise.
    Thanks to you all.
    Happy new Year !

  29. In Precept 10 of The Way To Happiness, LRH give this prescription for dealing with a government that does not protect the interests of its people: “And one need not actively support such a government; doing nothing illegal, it is yet possible, by simply withdrawing one’s support, to bring about eventual reform”. The same principle should work for the corrupt administration of a Church.

I assume most of the readers of this blog have already withdrawn their support. We just need to encourage others we know to take a break, stop the donations, perhaps save their money to pay cash for their next action (also in keeping with LRH).

  30. Concerned Citizen

Happy New Year to one and all. I love this post.

“I assume most of the readers of this blog have already withdrawn their support. We just need to encourage others we know to take a break, stop the donations, perhaps save their money”

I am encouraging, I have good products, due to my delicate position, I can not really reveal these. Others can do so too. You don’t get the accolades and recognition, but you get more awareness and strengthen our group and our future.

If you have the TRs and the comm. line, you too can do this, just insist, insist and insist on LRH policy being followed. Make sure you understand it and don’t buy what the MAA “understands of the policy” these people adjust their thinking and understanding of policy to justify command instead of confronting command and putting their ethics in.

Sooner or later the ruin, the “This is insane” or “this can not be LRH” comments occur, and then you provide them with the URLs to these pages. It works,

  31. Marty,

thank you for that new inspiring post.
Over the last four weeks, I am studying your blog and those of your (meanwhile also my) friends and I am having wins and gains you would not believe. I feel extremely TR2ed and educated.

    For now just that:

A pb TWTH is my all-time handbag reference for never to be out without anything from LRH.

As far as I see, #10 of the TWTH fully supports and aligns with what you are conceiving in your recent post.

Thank you – you are such an beautiful being!!

    • Fidelio, Thanks. Yeah, number 10. It is right along the lines of Thoreau, Civil Disobedience.

      • Oh my, Marty,

you are adding and adding to my reading list…

      • From the book, BLESSED UNREST, by Paul Hawkens:

“It is worth recalling here the ending of WALDEN for its anthemic quality. While this concluding passage has become a familiar homily read at weddings and commencements, few if any progressive thinkers, including Martin Luther King and Gandhi, have not been genuinely guided by it. It could be said that these were Thoreau’s operating instructions to the world’s activists:

‘I learned this at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a more higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.’

“Scholars argue whether Gandhi first read CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE in 1906 or 1907, but whatever the case, it strengthened his resolve and influenced a fledgling movement. Throughout his life, Gandhi quoted the piece in letters, interviews, and articles as a buttress for the philosophy of satyagraha.

“Satyagraha is a three step instrument of change, not a mere act of protest. The first step is to object to an unjust law or policy, and petition for its removal. Absent an acceptable response, the second step is to break the law. The third step is to undergo the consequences, be they arrest, violence, abuse, or privation. Satyagraha means ‘holding firmly to the truth’ in Hindi, and by following the process, remaining focused and calm within one’s belief.”

  32. Thank you for this inspiring post Marty. We have so much to look forward to in 2010. 🙂

  33. I recommend reading Peggy Noonan’s latest column in the Wall Street Journal:

“Maybe the most worrying trend the past 10 years can be found in this phrase: ‘They forgot the mission.’ So many great American institutions—-institutions that every day help hold us together—-acted as if they had forgotten their mission, forgotten what they were about, what their role and purpose was, what they existed to do. You, as you read, can probably think of an institution that has forgotten its reason for being. Maybe it’s the one you’re part of.

“And as all these institutions forgot their mission, they entered the empire of spin. They turned more and more attention, resources and effort to the public perception of their institution, and not to the reality of it.

“Everyone gave their efforts to how things seemed and not how they were. Press secretaries, press assistants, media managers, public relations experts—-they abound more than ever in our business and public life. Half the people in Congress are people who one way or another are trying to ‘communicate’ the member’s thinking. But he’s not really thinking, he’s positioning, and they’re not thinking either, they’re organizing and deploying focus-grouped phrases and turning them into talking points.

“So what to do? … It probably begins with taking the one thing we all hate to take in our society, and that is personal responsibility.

“If you work in a great institution: Do you remember the mission? Do you remember why you went to work there, what you meant to do, what the institution meant to you when you viewed it from the outside, years ago, and hoped to become part of it?”

The full article can be found at http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704152804574628522483219740.html.

    • Oh that’s brilliant and spot on Eponymous!

““Maybe the most worrying trend the past 10 years can be found in this phrase: ‘They forgot the mission.’ “

    • Eponymous,
Wow, she really hit the nail on the head with this one! The C of $, Congress, Wall Street, all institutions that have failed or are failing to live up to their vision and mission. And doesn’t it seem that the failures are all tied to money, greed and avarice??? Thank you for sharing…
      Gaia

  34. I read this post again today, the first day of a new decade. (Been very busy days with people and celebration and I’m loving this quiet day to set sail into here on out…(future present moments) 🙂

Recently I’ve been wondering if I should be “doing more” for the cause and, if so, what. But when I announced years ago that I couldn’t condone illegal and unethical inconsistencies I observed within the ™ $ystem, I realize after reading this post that I am doing it. I did simply disagreed with my would-be enslavers. (more than once, and I gave them every opportunity/comm/KRs to come to their senses).

The only thing that was missing was friends who shared the interest and reality of the tech and vision of reality(ies).

In a way, holding my position of “rightness” acted in a way of (inadvertently) making other wrongs. Now, a bit more of the shackle flies off…it’s like …of course all the tech and wins I loved are mine, because I love it, and continuing the actions that produce insight, wisdom, improved ability, i.e., auditing, have nothing to do with anyone or anything else. It just is what it is!

With every bit we flourish, prosper, befriend ourselves with full integrity … the dark forces wither.

I’m starting the new year with a Flow 0 hug (hugging myself) 🙂 as kind and loving as I grant beingness to others. (ahhh no wonder others feel so happy around me) :-)) All life will be better for it, all I embrace. And that is the core from which I vow to engage in all actions.

Thank you to everyone who makes it possible to simply do what we love. Thank you for this post, Marty!

  35. A most excellent article Marty! I found the content to be immensely helpful. Thank you very much.

It is so good to be getting all of this sorted out.

May we always desire to play a better game and create a better tomorrow for EVERYONE!

  36. As usual, another great, wonderful post.

    We are on our way.

Here are a few vids I think, help us with a little more mass; to what otherwise is the perfect gradient to Be, Do Have.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day; January 18th

“First they fight, then we win.” -Gandhi

Ron is always with us. He is looking straight at me…he is looking at You.

We all know, the value, and enrichment of viewing things in a New-unit of time. If I may, here is LRH.

  37. It seems that we all search for Truth that is within us. We each may find it in different ways, if we are lucky enough. I got this from a brilliant film, Revolutionary Road, which somehow seems relevant to our search for Truth within the current Scn Church. In the movie, the Kate Winslet character speaks to Leo Dicaprio character:

“Tell me the truth Frank. Remember that? We used to live by it. And you know what’s so good about the truth. Everyone knows what it is no matter how long they’ve lived without it. No one forgets the truth Frank, they just get better at lying”

  38. Impresive thought process comes of the page through reading your -might I say- Essay about personal freedom and peacefull protest.

I am Elated with joy You discovered “The Great Soul” Mohandas K. Ghandi that is one of my heroes. I can recomend the movie that was made with Ben Kingsly playing him. It does not onley shows the life-path of Ghandi but alsoo the rigidness and dispair of the british rulers faced with this non-violent resistence.

Most typical I found to be the British Colonel who spread a square with bullets into a peacefull crowd. Afterwards his superieurs asked “Was the Crowd armed”. The Colonel did not see that as relavant. Than his superieurs knew the britich regime in India was doomed.

I posted the following quote before but in the light of this post I think it is approïate.

    Frederick Douglass:

Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.

  39. Independent Spirit

    Wonderful post, Marty.

Happy New Year to all of you.

  40. Some more food for thought in the New Year, Marty, courtesy of the Great Ghandi:

“The most heinous and the most cruel crimes of which history has record have been committed under the cover of religion or equally noble motives”

“We must always seek to ally ourselves with that part of the enemy that knows what is right”

May your best postulates come true.

  41. Thank you, Marty. This is so well written and timely. I don’t post often, but yours and a few other sites are my daily news feed and the folks that post have become a very important group of extended friends and family. This Ghandi quote has been one of my stable datums for years. 2010 here we come!

  42. A beautiful post Marty! Perfect food for thought for bringing in the New Year. I am thankful for all that you are doing and all that so many others are doing. It’s glorious that we are all individuals free to express ourselves as we want without being dictated to. I celebrate the exquisite differences we each have, person to person. It’s what makes life interesting…and boy, am I interested!

    • Hey Valkov; that´s what I call a effective blow!

There it is the one I told a couple months ago: “Individualization” (5911c25 26).

I suggest again to listen to it.

Some real SP, I don´t remember his name, must be “Muy encabronado” by now with this.

      OOOOPPS!

  44. One of the wonderful factors that I have come to really appreciate about Marty’s blogs is that they generate such a diversity of response. And not just light responses either, but very thoughtful and profound responses that serve to pull and push my attention all over the place. Old files are clicked open and I make frequent trips to my bookshelf to search through my LRH library for a specific reference that I had not consulted for some time. The experience is a rich one!

Earlier today I pulled my very worn and tattered copy of, THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY, BACKGROUND AND CEREMONIES, out from the bookshelf where it was sandwiched, almost out of sight (it’s a rather thin book), between two other large books. I returned with book in hand to my rocking chair and began to read.

Like many of us here, as I was doing my first course in Scientology (the Comm Crs), I was presented with many LRH books to buy and I bought as many as I could afford. This particular book that I began reading again today was a very important read for me in those early days. It was this book that oriented and aligned me to Scientology as a religion. In other words, it laid in the foundation of the religious philosophy for me. Indeed, i can safely say that it was the content within this book that really brought me into firmly being a Scientologist. For reading this material was like reading my own thoughts.

The book is divided up into three parts. Part I is the introduction and herein is where one is exposed to the religious roots of Scientology and many comparisons to other religions are made. In Part II, the forms of service i.e., weddings, namings and funerals are delineated. Part III is about Prayer Day. You may wonder, what is Prayer Day?

Excerpt from Part III: “Annual Prayer Day – in recent years in the United Kingdom, Africa, America, Australia and New Zealand, Churches of Scientology have held many prayer day meetings, as public expressions of belief and integrity. Here is an example of the form of observance extracted from the prayer day held in Londaon, May 18, 1969. and subsequently in most capital cities of the World of Scientology.”

Following are excerpts from the prayer day sermon delivered by the Guardian of the Church of Scientology (anyone know who the Guardian was?). Note: the sermon in the book is an abridged version but is still rather lengthy.

“There have been many brave and dramatic movements on this planet. There have been countless philsophies and revolutions and rebellions which sought to free or civilise or organise mankind; many of them far more dramatic and courageous than ours.

“Sometimes these movements were met with force and crushed, sometimes they were not. For you and I and every living thing in this universe is looking for truth, Systems, economic or political or whatever, which attempt to change conditions by changing the structure of society, can have only a limited success.

“Structures can be changed by force or lies or work or effort or suffering or death, but man the Spirit is not changed by these things.

“Function is senior to structure, mankind as a spiritual being is senior to structure.

“Nations are civilised not by new systems of force. They gain understanding and culture and dignity not from economics or politics but from man himself, and that most precious gift of AWARENESS. The building block of any civilisation is ‘A man thinking’.

“The scrapyards of history are littered with the dicarded derelicts of systems, political or judicial, which sought to oppress by various degrees of force, the right of sentient man to think freely and to communicate freely, his understanding.

“Force met by force is not a solution. Many Saints and Sages and Scholars hve been aware of this since the first syllable of recorded time.

“Your potential is God given and Godlike. You have the right to seek to achieve understanding.

“Force, brutality barbarism, lies can be viewed as they are. They can be confronted, they can be understood.

“In Scientology we believe we have the means to help man do this. It may not be the only way. It may not be the bravest or most dramatic way. It is our way, and we find it works. We can offer it to our fellows to have and to use or not.

“But we do not, we dare not, force it upon them, for to do so would destroy the very purpose of our movement.

“…the future of man’s survival as what he is lies in the exercise of the right to his own integrity, his self and mutual respect, and the basic human right to follow the star of truth concerning himself and his maker.

“We have hope. It is not a hard road we travel, you and I. And we know that man is basically good. Even our enemies, basically they too are good, and seeking to survive and be free.

“And we have hope, you and I. Hope that refreshes and revitalises our purpose.

“I doubt that Pharaoh in Moses’ time or Pontius Pilate, or the men that sentenced Socrates, or our present-day oppressors had much hope. But we can see them as they really are, and have hope for them too.

“We are dealing with life and all its parts. Existence has tears and brutality and ignorance, but it also has laughter and beauty and fun. The only time you can lose is when you give up. When you abrogate responsibility. Let us not give up.

“I look forward to the day when no-one lives in fear of another. I know, as well as you know, that a day will come when this planet is populated by nations who while conscious of separate identity, religiious practice and cultural background, co-exist one with another as individuals, respsecting each other’s integrity.

“So, with reality and a factor of hope, let us play the game of life, and let us make it a game in which all people may eventually win.”

    • P Henry asked: “(anyone know who the Guardian was?)”

      Jane Kember http://tinyurl.com/yepc92r

      • Mickey, thank you. However, I followed the link you gave and the earliest reference I could find reference there for Jane Kember being the Guardian was 21 Sept 75′. This prayer day sermon was given on 18 May 69′. Do you happen to know when Jane Kember first took the Guardian post?

Side note: I added a couple of videos that you might enjoy.

        http://scnstories.ning.com/video

      • As far as I know she was the original and one and only Guardian until the G.O. was disassembled in the early 80s when the power grab by DM began.

      • Actually Ron originally appointed Mary Sue as Guardian per HCOPL 1March 1966 The Guardian. She was then promoted to Controller by HCOPL 21 January 1969 which is when Jane Kember assumed the post with her assistant Morris Budlong.

Jane was the one who approved GO 1361 Michael Meisner’s Counter-Espionage program against the USG.

Meisner, is an interesting character. Because he not only wrote the program but eventually was “turned” by the DOJ. The only one as

Seems none of the “critics” noticed the symmetry, here.

Lucky you have a paranoid like me to point such things out.

See under agent provocateur in the following reference:

        http://books.google.com/books?id=VNSMrps8mpcC&pg=PA392&lpg=PA392&dq=agent+provocateur+Encyclopedia+Intelligence&source=bl&ots=XGb-1clA9b&sig=-sjKKd0266XS6Y5bb6gFSkqN3AU&hl=en&ei=pG9CS-GfOJOqtgPMy7HXAw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9&ved=0CBoQ6AEwCDgK#v=onepage&q=&f=false

Not only that but it seems the (in)Justice Department had neglected the concept of double jeopardy in their “Stipulation of ‘Evidence'”, since they not only charged the eleven involved in the “conspiracy” with not only “harboring” Miesner as a “fugitive” but also “kidnapping” him as a “federal witness”.

Let’s not mention the fact that the only files they made publicly available were only those actions perpetrated by the GO. None had to do with the Government’s own programs against the Church such as those carried out under the rubric of COINTELPRO, MH/CHOAS, HT/LINGUAL SHAMROCK, the Huston plan and various covert ops run against any group or organization that the Government considered “subversive”.

Nor is there mention of CIA’s involvement with various leading Scientologists in the Remote Viewing program that Pat Price was keeping a running record of according to Kenneth Kress in his addendum to ‘Parapsychology In Intelligence: A Personal Review and Conclusions’

        http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:NHZlMMOP1OcJ:www.scientificexploration.org/journal/jse_13_1_kress.pdf+Kenneth+Kress+Parapsychology&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Nor will I mention Kember’s personal connections to South African intelligence according to a source of mine who worked closely to her.

I’ll just go along with the typical “shore story” promoted by the USG and David Miscavige himself that the GO unprovoked, committed acts of espionage against the Government.

Since Miscavige even if he wanted to, which he doesn’t because he wants to promote the fiction that Mary Sue and the GO were just simply criminals, or anyone who is currently a member of the Church because the formerly secret closing agreement with the IRS has a specific gag order against the mention of past or current conspiracies.

  45. This is for Marty or anyone else who would like to respond with a viewpoint on this. Happy new year to you all.

  46. This is a video I just came across a few minutes ago. It seems to fit here on this blog of Marty’s. After watching the video I encourage you to visit the website.

    http://charterforcompassion.org//

  47. If you understood the definition of responsibility than you would understand why Ron left us to clean up the scene with the organization ourselves which includes Miscavige.

Also there are levels above OT VIII all written in note form and waiting for someone OT enough to compile them.

What do you think would happen now if they were released with the organization in the condition it is now?

They can’t even keep in security on the levels they have right now!

I suggest you grab a copy of the book ‘Creation of Human Ability’ and look at the processes listed under Route 1, also if you have them listen to the Route 1 lectures and imagine what a bunch of thetans who regained those abilities would be like with out the concept of ethics.

Never mind that, look at the whole track as it was before we arrived at this point and see what happened and where we ended up.

  48. Thank you Marty, I really like the idea of adding do and have to Gandhi’s message.

As a complete and total aside, I’ve always wondered on how certain Scientology concepts would translate into languages that lacked (as many do) either the verb to be or to have.

  49. Marty,

It’s a beautiful thing to see you stand tall in the face of suppression – whatever it’s source.

    Your strategic statement:

“BE, DO AND HAVE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD”

is concise, easy for all to understand and broad enough for everyone’s individual activities to align. Excellent. It certianly helps me.

May I make a suggestion? I think it ought to be posted at the header of your blog. That way everytime anyone logs on ,it is right there in your face. Anyone, including independents, general public, DM and OSA.

    Thank you Marty.

  50. Dear Marty,

Happy Sunday, when it’s traditional to take a break and think of infinity and God a bit.

I’m not a Scientologist (I’m a man from mud atheist materialist, mathematical infinity material stuff is my viewpoint) , but I agree with and encourage and wish official Scientology would MORE apply their “good roads good weather” policy’

However you independents get official Scientologists to listen and learn from what you independents have learned, is a good thing.

    Thanks for the public discussion.

One scholar suggested a press conference, with a dozen or so ex members, to focus on any major grievances and get the KEY grievance
across publicly in a focused way, limiting the press conference to 1 or 2 major issues at most.

The St. Pete Times article essentially did this in a sense, that it focused on the Scientology elite upper ranks violence issue, and I would guess they’ve cooled it on the out of control violence crap.

I think everyone agrees that the disconnection/shunning issue, is probably Scientology’s worst ingrained policy.

Somehow disconnection incorrectly applied needs to be undone.

And somehow David Miscavige’s life needs to be historically laid out in a book, in detail, showing his mentality and behavior.

    “David Miscavige: Scientology Cult Leader”

But to me, LRH is unfortunately the one who allowed a HUGE amount of irreligious low character policy into offiicial Scientology’s repertoire, which will always be a problem no matter who are the movement’s leaders.

Mike Rinder ought to do a book on OSA and his history as Scientology PR Man, believe me, it’d sell and make it worth his time.

And the Gang of Five and a bunch of you other top ex leaders ought to somehow put together a book on David Miscavige.

I really appreciate the honesty of these new OT 8s.

I would love to hear MORE about how disconnection is applied to them, particularly in the business world where Scientologists in business are obligated to shun the new “apostate” OT 8s.

  51. “The ability to assume or to grant beingness is probably the highest of human virtues. It is even more important to be able to permit other people have beingness than to be able oneself to assume it.”

    IMO our senior datum

  52. Thank you for this. I was pretty angry the past few days. this just reminded me that the anger takes me no where and puts me in a worse position. Since leaving the church I have learned to love unconditionally and learned to not be so judgmental. In the real world, people have problems and deal with them in their own way and I need to be empathetic to that.
I kind of feel sorry for DM…because he has spun himself such a web that he cant possibly get out of without justice…he cant even see right now. I dont know how he is able to sleep. I believe he needs to be brought to justice though. I now believe that when one suffers, we all suffer to an extent. When you cause someone grief, you cause the world grief and you bring it right back to yourself ten fold. (imagine how bad it must be for DM) This is why violence, anger and hate are so bad. I dont want to ever create that for anyone. DM puts people in fear by threatening their eternity. NO ONE has that right..NO ONE!!! I am ashamed that I was part of that and that I ran that on people when I regged and when I was an ethics terminal. I am no better than anyone else and everyone deserves freedom. I see this now and I was able to correct my mistakes and how I now treat people. I treat everyone with respect and in return I have the most amazing friends and support in my life.
When I need something, it just comes to me. It is all because I LOVE…and I keep becoming the change I want to see. I know that I am not done yet…but I work towards that everyday.
I think that DM deserves for people to care enough about, not just everyone under his thumb…but enough about him to stop him. after all…if he is suffereing…we all will to some extent.
I am going to send good thoughts his way and silent blessings his way. He needs that for the sake of all…the bad thoughts and hatred only fuels his fire and adds turmoil to mine.
Rev. Run sent a tweet that said “being angry at someone is like drinking poison and expecting THEM to die”. that is so true!!!
Kathy Braceland….thank you for your comment, it reminded me of where I needed to be 🙂

    love to all 🙂
